Creating wellbeing in schools
A violence awareness and prevention project is about to kick off in local schools thanks to a grant from Kingston City Council.
Up to seven Kingston-based teachers and student wellbeing coordinators will receive free training in the award-winning ‘Solving the Jigsaw’ Professional Development program developed by the Centre for Non-Violence in Bendigo. ‘Solving the Jigsaw’ works with students, teachers, parents and the whole school community to change the culture of violence and build a culture of wellbeing.
Leading the way in sending staff in April are Mentone Primary School, Yarrabah School and Westall Primary School. ‘Solving the Jigsaw’ uses practical activities, discussions, video footage and transcripts of interactions with children in the classroom as part of the experiential training.
This partnership initiative is a fantastic opportunity for all involved to create a brighter future for children and young people impacted by domestic violence.
