Art therapy for children
Emerge offers individual and group art therapy sessions for children who have experienced or witnessed domestic violence, assisting children to process and gain insight into their experience and to break the cycle of violence. Our art therapist explores themes such as safety, bullying, violence, inner strength and self-empowerment through a variety of different art media. By sharing their experiences in a mutually supportive environment, children are able to express their emotions, release their trauma response and find positive ways of relating to and communicating with others.
Community education and advocacy
Emerge actively works to increase awareness and understanding of domestic violence. The more we can educate the general public about domestic violence, the more we can do to create safer communities free from violence. We deliver talks to various groups including Rotary, local schools, councils and other community networks and organisations.
